Depending on the type of photography camp, he may venture into specific branches of photography such as studio and portrait photography, documentary photography, art photography, digital photography, street photography or photojournalism. Kids can start at the beginner level and eventually move on to moderate to advanced levels.
Learning Skills: A student will learn how to use and operate a camera, including adjusting of the aperture and focus, loading and rewinding of the film and more. He will also learn the basic processes of developing pictures in a darkroom facility.
Equipment to Bring: Depending on the photography camp, your child may be required to bring his camera. In most photography camps, a 35 mm SLR camera is required. In a street photography class, they may only be asked to bring a digital point and shoot camera. Other devices like tripods, lenses and filters are optional in some classes.
Special Counselor Considerations: The counselor should have background and training in photography to be able to teach effectively. For specialized classes like photojournalism, a counselor should have experience in such a field.
