An ESL camp (English as Second Language) is a camp designed to teach non-English speaking children the fundamentals of this language in terms of writing and speaking. It combines outdoor summer fun with ESL learning. This camp also fosters interaction and social skills, as well as imparting valuable survival skills. Typical camping activities can also be enjoyed in ESL camps. Examples of such include swimming, hiking, canoeing and so on.

What to Ask the Camp Director: Ask about the teacher to student ratio. Check the qualifications of the instructors. Know about the safety precautions of the camp when it comes to outdoor camping activities.

Counselor Certifications: Counselors should not only be native English speakers. They should also have certification in education and the English language to be able to teach the camp participants effectively.
