A non-denominational camp is a Christian camp that is not aligned with an established religious institution. These camps are centered in the Christian faith without pertaining to a particular denomination. Instead, they are autonomous and do not follow a certain congregation. But like most Christian camps, non-denominational camps offer camping ministry wherein participants are motivated to take on Christian living. Apart from faith renewal, these camps also give the family a chance to bond together and take a nice break from work.
Highlights: Non-denominational camps have both Christian and non-Christian activities, although in the latter, Christian values are still incorporated. Common examples of Christian activities include Bible sharing, talks, group discussions, worship and praise singing. As for non-Christian activities, these camps give recreational opportunities like basketball, swimming, picnicking, hiking and wildlife viewing, as well as creative activities such as musical performances.
What to Ask the Camp Director: Ask the camp director regarding the lineup of activities during the camp. Find out whether there is a good balance between the Christian and non-Christian activities.
What to Pack: Bring a few camping supplies like tents and sleeping bags, if needed. You also need to pack personal supplies such as clothing, toiletries and a first aid kit. Make sure you bring a reliable insect repellant and sunscreen.
